PM Kisan 20th Installment Date: What Farmers Need to Know

Indian farmers are on the brink of receiving the 20th tranche of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM–Kisan), under which small and marginal cultivators get ₹6,000 annually in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each. Here’s a comprehensive update on the expected release date, reasons for delay, and the six critical steps every beneficiary must complete to secure their next payment.

Expected Release Date

While the government has not issued an official notification, multiple reports indicate the 20th installment will be released in July 2025. State and central departments are gearing up for a mid-July disbursal, with some media outlets speculating credit may happen around July 18, 2025, possibly timed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public event in Motihari, Bihar. Farmers should stay alert in the second and third weeks of July for the ₹2,000 credit.

Why the Delay?

Traditionally, PM–Kisan installments arrive in February, June and October. The 20th installment, due in June, was pushed back without an official explanation. Sources suggest the Prime Minister’s foreign tour (July 2–9) and subsequent scheduling of high-profile rallies contributed to the deferment into mid-July.

Six Steps to Secure Your ₹2,000

The Ministry of Agriculture has issued an advisory reminding beneficiaries that failure to complete mandatory formalities will result in payment rejection. Follow these steps before the disbursal:

  1. Complete e-KYC
Electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) is compulsory. Without it, no funds will be credited. Farmers can finish e-KYC online via OTP on the PM–Kisan portal or offline at Common Service Centres (CSCs) using biometric authentication.

  2. Link Aadhaar with Bank Account
Your Aadhaar and bank account must be correctly linked. Any mismatch between Aadhaar number and bank details will block the transfer of funds.

  3. Verify Bank Account Details
Double-check bank account number and IFSC code on the PM–Kisan portal to prevent failed transactions due to clerical errors.

  4. Resolve Land Record Discrepancies
Only farmers with digitally verified land records are eligible. Visit your local tehsil or revenue office to update land ownership documents if discrepancies exist.

  5. Check Beneficiary Status
Log on to pmkisan.gov.in, click on “Beneficiary Status,” and enter your Aadhaar or bank account number to confirm your name is on the payment list.

  6. Update Mobile Number
Ensure your Aadhaar-linked mobile number is active. It is used to receive OTPs for e-KYC and SMS alerts about payment status.

How to Complete e-KYC

  • OTP-based Online: On pmkisan.gov.in, select “e-KYC” under Farmers’ Corner, enter Aadhaar and verify via OTP sent to your registered mobile.
  • Biometric at CSC: Visit the nearest CSC with your Aadhaar. The operator will complete biometric authentication.
  • Face Authentication: Download the PM–Kisan mobile app and complete e-KYC through in-app face verification.

Farmers who skip e-KYC will find their names dropped from the beneficiary list and lose eligibility for the 20th installment.

How to Check Your Payment Status

  1. Visit pmkisan.gov.in.
  2. Click “Beneficiary Status.”
  3. Enter Aadhaar, bank account number or registration number.
  4. Click “Get Data” to view current installment status.

If your name does not appear, check each of the six steps above to resolve pending issues.
